McNerney backs plan to ease gas prices
U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney (D., 11th) voted for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Fill Suspension and Consumer Protection Act of 2008, which passed the House today by a vote of 385 to 25. The bill would temporarily suspend the filling of the reserve until the end of the year and hopefully stop gas prices from rising. (Tuesday, 8:06 PM)

The winners of the Lookalike Contest are Sharon and Laurel White of Danville. Sharon said she and her 13-year-old daughter are told every day how much they look alike although they had never been in such a contest. "But this sounded fun to enter," Sharon e-mailed. Kiwanis charging full steam ahead for July 3-4
Have fun by taking part in the Hay Days festivities on July 3-4 in downtown Danville. That's the message these days from the Kiwanis of San Ramon Valley, which is putting together the spectacular Hay Days celebration on the 3rd as well as the annual Fourth of July Parade the next day. School district names new superintendent
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education announced Tuesday evening that Steven Enoch has been selected as the district's new Superintendent of Schools. Enoch, currently Superintendent of Schools for the San Juan Unified School District in Sacramento County, will replace Rob Kessler, who is retiring after 13 years as Superintendent for SRVUSD. Enoch joins the district effective July 1. (Thursday, 10:18 AM)
Osage Station Park reopened at night
Danville has reopened Osage Station Park at night after a week of monitoring found no further signs of the mountain lion spotted early last week.

Elworthy Ranch decision due Tuesday
Next week the Planning Commission will decide whether to approve a residential development on the Elworthy Ranch, a hilly property on the slope of Las Trampas Ridge in southwest Danville. The plan is to build 84 single-family homes and a 12-unit apartment building on 12 acres of the 459-acre property. (Wednesday, 3:57 PM)

Valley "Old Timers" are invited to stop by the Museum of the San Ramon Valley this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a reunion.
