Dear Dolores,

It is not widely known that Chris Cringle and his pal Buck Balle were cowboyin’ up Pocatello way back there in 1919 on a cold December Eve. Chris was sitting away from the fire and spoke to Buck, “I’ve done it, Buckaroo. I have made a beautiful coach pulled by eight white horses appear everywhere at once at Yul Tat *1.” Buck thought quietly as he was known to do and said, “Chrisser, you need to get over here by the fire, I think the cold is getting to you.” Chris continued, “Ol’Buckaroo, I have invented the time-space continuum machine and we can be everywhere at once to bring gifts all good people.”

Buck thought a moment more and said, “Well, Chrisser’boy, you might as well try that in a red sleigh pulled by reindeer.” As we know the rest is history.

Thus was born the reality of Chris Cringle as Santa Claus. And every year at this time Chrisser and the Ol’Buckaroo will come screaming out of the sky to say a special hello. In a blink of an eye they’re off again to bring celebration to all.

Note *1 – Yul Tat, in Danish, is Yule Tide as a celebration of our earth turning back toward Spring.
