| A townhome located at 185 Alamo Square sustained about $200,000 in structure damage and $50,000 in property damage Sunday afternoon. Adjacent units also sustained damage, which is estimated at $20,000 each.
Crews from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District responded to the home around 3 p.m., July 25 to find smoke and flames showing from the attic from the home. They reportedly requested a second alarm, bringing a total of six fire engines, two trucks and a paramedic ambulance to the scene.
One person was said to be at home at the time and was able to safely exit without help.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by Diane, a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on Jul 26, 2010 at 9:35 am We live in the area and were at the scene as the neighbors were calling the fire dept. The fire department was here within minutes and had everything under control very quickly....including minimal damage to the neighboring homes as well as protecting the many trees that canapy the area. Our commendations to them and many, many thanks. BTW..Chief Richard Price was "off-duty" but came to lend moral support. Credit goes to him, too, for "being there" for our community.
